We placed some water into a plastic glove and placed it in the freezer to cool. We left it for a few days and then watched what happened to it!!!! It was great fun watching it melt.
Year 1 have been using their sense of smell and taste to experiment how strong their senses are. We investigated if our sense of smell is stronger when we are not using our sense of sight too. The children loved the investigation and findings.
Today we explored the school grounds to investigate a microhabitat on the field. We lifted up some logs by the hedges and discovered several mini-beasts living in the leaf litter! We even lifted some of our outdoor equipment to see if any bugs had made their homes underneath. In the end we spotted spiders, woodlice, worms, slugs and centipedes. We gathered some of the leaf litter and brought it into our warm, dry classroom so that we could take a closer look at the creepy-crawlies with our magnifying glasses.
