The financial support provided by the Sport Premium has had a significantly positive impact on the provision for PE and sport for our children. This impact is outlined below:

Curriculum Sport Provision:

  • Reception:- 1 hour plus 5 x 45 minutes structured play at lunchtimes
  • Y1:- 2 hours plus 5 x 45 minutes structured play at lunchtimes
  • Y2:- 1 hour plus 5 x 45 minutes structured play at lunchtimes as well as football coaching each Friday lunch time during the summer term
  • Y3:- 2 hours plus 5 x 45 minutes structured play at lunchtimes
  • Y4:- 1 hour plus 5 x 45 minutes structured play at lunchtimes as well as football coaching each Friday lunch time during the summer term
  • Y5:- 1 hour plus 5 x 45 minutes structured play at lunchtimes, plus 6 weeks of BMX cycling for 1 hour
  • Y6:- 2 hours plus 5 x 45 minutes structured play at lunchtimes plus 6 weeks of BMX/track cycling for 1 hour
  • Every Key Stage 2 class has 8 hours of swimming per year
  • Every Key Stage 2 class has the opportunity to take part in structured play activities each playtime including football, netball, bat and ball skills and trim trail.

Extra – Curricular Sport Provision: 

  • KS2 Judo (50 minutes x 5 weeks)
  • KS2 Fencing (50 minutes x 6 weeks)
  • Y2 Football (50 minutes x 6 weeks)
  • Y5 & Y6 Football (1 hour each week)
  • Y3 & Y4 Gymnastics (1 hour each week)
  • Y5 & Y6 Netball (1 hour each week)
  • Y4, Y5 & Y6 Cross Country (1 hour per week)

Competitions:

  • Cross country – No team medals this year, however, more children participated from Y4 than in previous years
  • Football – School team took part in league and tournament matches, coming third in the “Barcelona Tournament” and third in the league.
  • Knowsley netball tournament
  • Knowsley rounders tournament.
  • One girl achieved a gold medal for the vault in the gymnastics competition.
  • Effective liaison with PE teacher and coaches who teach the children and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of PE and sport.
  • Effective liaison with the local School Sports Partnership
  • Extensive training attended for a variety of sports
  • Speed Bounce Competition
  • Skipping Competition
  • Hula Hoop Competition

Resources:

Additional resources have been purchased to support our provision for sports including football goals, playground equipment and PE equipment.

In recognition of the high quality provision for PE and school sport, we were awarded the Gold School Games Mark award for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport in 2014/2015.
