We celebrate Advent as we prepare for Christmas. We use this time to reflect on what we are grateful for and join in the anticipation of this season. In all our classrooms you will notice the cloths on the focus tables change from the green of ordinary time to the purple of Advent.
We take time in November to remember the service of all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
We celebrate the earth that God has given us during Autumn.
We welcome back all of the children to a new year here at St Joseph’s. We also welcome our new class of Reception children and welcome them into our St Joseph family.
Through our Mission Statement we are inspired by Jesus so we have thought about how we should behave to others. We talked about how being kind and thoughtful not only makes others feel good but will also make you feel good too and will build a better world.
May is a very special month for the Church as we remember Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Mother of us all.
A full month is given over to Mary and during this month we are asked to think about Mary, say special prayers to her and sing hymns to Mary to tell her how much we love her and to ask her to help us stay close to her son Jesus and to try to live as Jesus shows us.
May is seen as the beginning of new life and the start of summer, which makes this a logical time for the celebrations of Mary.
At Lent we think about how we can help others.
St Joseph is our school patron saint. He was a very good and patient man. He always obeyed God even though he did not always understand. Through his love and care for Jesus and Mary, Saint Joseph showed his love for God. We pray to Saint Joseph to help us and keep us safe.
