Our Pumpkin Soup Adventure!

What an exciting morning we had in Reception – we made our very own Pumpkin Soup!

The children were brilliant little chefs, using their cutting skills to carefully chop up the big, orange pumpkin. There were lots of “oohs” and “wows” when we opened it up and saw the stringy insides and slippery seeds! We used our senses to feel, smell, and look closely at what was inside it was messy, gooey fun!

We talked about all the ingredients we needed to make the soup and followed the steps together like real cooks. Then we read the story Pumpkin Soup and joined in with the characters’ adventure  just like them, we worked as a team to make something delicious.

The classroom was filled with excitement as the soup cooked it smelled amazing! At snack time, every child had a taste in their own little cup.

What a lovely way to explore autumn, try something new, and build our cutting, talking, and teamwork skills.
