We Love Reading!
Our reception children are enjoying reading in lots of different places. They’ve been reading in our library, in our outdoor learning area and in our classroom. They are reading fiction and non-fiction books too.

We were so lucky to have a visit this week from author Andy Winrow. He came into our school to read his brand new book Captain Magic Beard and The Tiger Eel. We loved listening to the adventures of Captain Magic Beard on Albatross Bay. Andy talked about how he had written the book with his little boy Alby during lockdown. This has really inspired us all to what to be an author or even an illustrator!

The children were lucky enough to experience an assembly led by local poet and performer Levi Tafari today. The children loved the assembly and came back excited and intrigued about the poems they’d heard.
Year 2 enjoyed learning about a healthy diet and a balanced plate today. The children sorted foods into the different food groups and were able to explain the benefits of different foods.
Year 2 enjoyed exploring the local school area looking at minibeasts in their natural habitats. The children were calm and patient and really enjoyed themselves.
Year 1 have been learning about democracy.
We were given a choice of two books to read at the end of the day.
Each child was given a counter and we took it in turn to cast our votes.
When everyone had voted, we counted up the votes to see which book we would read.
The Day the Crayons quit was the winner!
