Art
Friday Art in action!
Design It, Build It, Capture It!
In our small world and construction areas, the Reception children have been using their wonderful imaginations to plan and create their own ideas. Before they begin building, the children are encouraged to draw their designs on paper, thinking carefully about what they want to make. Once their creations come to life, they use the iPad to take a photo all by themselves, proudly capturing their work. It’s been lovely to see them using their independent skills with such confidence and creativity, turning their ideas into real life models and stories.
Supertato to the rescue
As part of our literacy scheme, we’ve been exploring the exciting story Supertato! The children have thoroughly enjoyed diving into the world of superheroes and learning about bravery, teamwork, and helping others.
To bring the story to life, the children created and designed their very own Supertato characters using real potatoes! They added eyes, a red cape, and a superhero mask to transform their potatoes into mini heroes—just like the character in the book.

Eco- Warriors
The Eco Warriors joined the Reception children to support them in making fatballs for birds, using pine cones as the base. This engaging activity linked
to science, as the children learned about what birds need to survive and how different types of food provide energy. It also supported design and technology (DT), with the children carefully spreading the fat mixture into the pine cones and adding seeds, developing their fine motor skills and understanding of materials. Through art, they expressed creativity by decorating their pine cones and exploring natural textures, making the activity a rich, cross-curricular learning experience.
3D Robot models
Reception this term have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes. They created their very own 3D robots. They’ve done an impressive job.
