Catholic life
Year 1 Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day
Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed making pancakes today. They weighed ingredients, followed a recipe and decided on toppings they’d like on their pancakes. We also linked it to our Religious topic about Special Meals and discussed how people come together on Shrove Tuesday for pancakes, to use up eggs and fats before Lent.
Prayer & Liturgy
Year 1 enjoyed their Prayer & Liturgy today. Gathering together and listening to God’s word (John13:34-35) really helped the children to focus on Jesus’ lessons about love.
Celebration
Reception had a lovely visit from Christine Ball, who works in the local parish. Christine came in and spoke all about celebrations and different celebrations that happen in church. This linked in with our Come and See programme. During spring term 1 we are exploring what a celebration is and what happens in our local parish. We had a small role play to celebrate a birthday. Edward was very pleased as it was his birthday, we all sang songs together.
Year 4 enjoyed a visit from Christine Ball who came in to talk about our church community and the people involved in it
