We had great fun learning some techniques to make a seasonal salad. We used the claw grip, the fork secure, the bridge hold and peeling to prepare the salad. The best part was getting to eat it afterwards.
After watching them grow from tiny caterpillars into stunning butterflies, it was magical to set them free into the world. We talked about how God’s creation is full of wonder and how living things change and grow — just like us!
It was a lovely moment of reflection and learning, linking our science work on life cycles with our RE thinking about care, thankfulness, and new beginnings.
Reception had a fantastic time exploring science through a fun and frosty experiment! The challenge was to rescue the chilly peas that were frozen in blocks of ice. The children were given a selection of tools and materials, including hammers, pipettes, salt, hot water, and tweezers, to help them free the peas.
Before getting started, we talked about how salt can help dissolve ice and make it melt faster. The children then used their problem-solving skills and worked together to test different methods. Some chose to drip hot water onto the ice with pipettes, while others carefully tapped it with hammers or sprinkled salt to speed up the melting process.
Well done team for getting to the quarter finals today.
