Year 1 have really been enjoying their fire engines unit of DT work. The children enjoyed exploring and creating their own wheels and axis in preparation of creating their own fire engines.
Children worked on their own projects over the Christmas break. They focused on a specific country or continent and researched their own facts and learning. The children put in fantastic effort and produced wonderful projects.
Children really enjoyed learning about the story of Moses and how, through God’s guidance, Moses was able to lead the Jewish people to freedom. The children re-enacted the story to show their understanding.
Year 1 loved hearing all about Advent this morning. They then had the opportunity to decorate our school Christmas Tree and hear Christmas songs and carols sung by the other children. We even showcased our own nativity songs, what a lovely morning we’ve had!
Year 1 have been exploring the meanings behind the Advent Wreath and have created their own using 1 white, 1 pink and 3 purple candles to represent hope, peace, joy, love and Christ.
Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their CAFOD workshop. They loved learning about solidarity and human dignity, and we later made links with our PSHE work on Anti-Bullying too.
Year 1 created wonderful projects at half-term, with their families, all about toys from the past. Children spoke to family members, went to the museum and explored the internet and library.
