We have used world maps, globes and Google Earth to locate a number of rivers around the world, including those which are significant in the UK and our city. We have reflected on the ways in which these rivers differ.
During computing lessons, we have used Augmented Reality Apps. We used perceptual and computer-generated images alongside objects that are used in the real world to enhance book and film reviews.
During our Forces topic, in Science, we measured the depth and diameters of craters, created by different weighted objects, to find out more about gravitational pull.
During Maths Week, Year 5 used concrete resources to find the answers to cubed number calculations. We completed a class quiz which the children really enjoyed.
As part of our Geography topic about Rivers, we visited Huyton Wetlands, and various parts of the River Alt to discover the source of the river and we travelled right up to the mouth of the river, in Hightown. We stopped at Knowsley Community College and Croxteth Park along the way, to be able to recognise various stages of the river and we discussed how it had been impacted over time”.
