Autumn Term in Year 4
English
We will be reading Gorilla by Anthony Browne and learning to:
- Use expanded noun phrases by the addition of modifying adjectives, nouns and prepositional phrases
- Use fronted adverbials
- Organise paragraphs around a theme
- Choose nouns or pronouns appropriately for clarity and cohesion and to avoid repetition
- Use commas after fronted adverbials
- Use inverted commas for direct speech
We will also be reading non-fiction texts about gorillas, exploring the poetry of Wes Magee and reading Greek Myths Retold by Marcia Williams.

We will be deepening our place value of 4-digit numbers, developing our ability to calculate accurately using all four operations, and exploring measuring perimeter.

Ancient Greece
We will learning about the lives and achievements of the Ancient Greeks, and considering the impact on our lives today.
Computing
Web Designers
We will be learning about the history of the web, basic HTML, how to create their own graphics and how to publish our own website.
Music
Combining Elements to Make Music
We will be building on our prior learning to combine different elements of music in our compositions.
Design and Technology
Alarm
We will be applying our understanding of electrical circuits to design and make alarm systems.

Invasion Games
We will be developing our invasion games skills by playing netball.
